SCOTCH & SODA WITH BOOK AND DVD
Flight of the Phoenix
[1876]
$249.99

A stage masterpiece from Magic Max! Follow this closely! The Magician displays an elegant, locked, beautifully decorated wooden chest to the audience for all to see. He hands it to a gentleman in the front row, and asks him to hold it on his lap for the remainder of the show. Now this isn't an itty-bitty chest, mind you; it's a VERY respectable size (You could easily fit a large toaster inside it!)

Now, you, ever the elegant magician, calls a volunteer up on the stage with you. Let's say it's the attractive lady that caught your eye in the audience. You ask her to locate a quarter from her pocket or purse. You then ask her to sign the quarter with an indelible ink, fine tip marker, with her name or initials. SHE then places the quarter in a small wooden box, and holds it next to her heart for the remainder of the trick.

You now ask the gentleman, sitting patiently in the audience, with the LOCKED chest on his lap, to join you and the lady on stage. From around your neck, you remove a large necklace made of a red ribbon, with a shiny key dangling from it. You show your hands empty, and hand the key to the lady, to unlock the chest, and to announce what she sees inside.

She does so, and reports that there is another large wooden box inside, held shut by several LARGE rubber bands (These are over a half an inch WIDE). You gently lift this walnut-stained box out of the large chest, and hold it high overhead for all to see. You display it on all sides, so the audience can see that it is tightly sealed by the bands. This is handed to the lady to open.

Upon doing show, SHE finds ANOTHER wooden box inside,(the magician NEVER touches any of the equipment again!) once again it is locked on the front. SHE takes it out and unlocks it with the key you hand her. Opening it, SHE finds it's completely filled with small white beans! Resting on top of the beans is a red ribbon. You instruct her to gently pull on the ribbon, and, from deep inside the box of beans, she slowly pulls out a small wooden box, sealed with rubber bands.

SHE opens this final box, and, inside, she finds her original marked quarter. In amazement, she opens the box that she originally put her quarter in, only to find it empty!!!

This is a crowd pleaser, bar none!!! Verne tells of performing this effect for an audience and, YEARS later, he was approached by a gentleman who was in the audience that day, and, of all the effects performed, THIS was the ONE HE REMEMBERED and was most IMPRESSED by!!!

POINTS TO REMEMBER: * The magician NEVER touches any of the boxes again, after the CHEST is unlocked and the next box is shown all around. * The load of the quarter is a silky smooth transition that will fool the best magicians in the house!! * The equipment is all done in a delightful, masculine walnut finish and is large enough to carry a typical close-up magic show. * There is NO sleight of hand in the routine. There is one or two "moves", that do not rise to the level of sleight of hand. * The handling is all very natural. The misdirection and timing have been painstakingly worked out, so that NOTHING is left to chance. * Remember, the lady does all the work, she unlocks the boxes, but YOU complete the impossible right in front of your entire audience! This classy effect has been painstakingly perfected by the one and only Verne McCarthy and the workmanship of the Flight of the Phoenix is exquisite...a must have! Included are a total of FOUR boxes and workmanship you can't get anywhere else for a great piece of timely entertainment.

Magic Max gives you a killer routine and more than one way to make the quarter vanish. The vanish described above is performed with the Rattle Box, available elsewhere on this site. NOTE: The Rattle Box is NOT included with this routine. If you'd like one, you must order it separately. The directions that come with the trick give you another excellent vanish for the quarter, or you can use your own favorite technique. This routine can easily occupy from three to ten minutes in your show, as it is loaded with entertainment opportunities!!
